On September 21, the full undercard for the highly anticipated IBF heavyweight title fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium in London was announced. Every major UK promoter will be involved in Riyadh Season’s inaugural event on British soil.
This marks the second show outside Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the group led by Turki Alalshikh, following an event in Los Angeles featuring the Israil Madrimov-Terence Crawford WBA 154-pound title fight. Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) has recently been elevated to full IBF champion status and will defend his title against Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs).
Dubois, ranked No. 6 in the heavyweight division by The Ring, captured the interim title with an eighth-round stoppage of Filip Hrgovic (17-1, 14 KOs) in Riyadh on June 1. He was officially upgraded to full champion after Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) vacated the IBF belt.
This event also marks Joshua’s return to Wembley for the first time since September 2018, where he last defended his title against Alexander Povetkin with a seventh-round knockout. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist, ranked No. 2 at heavyweight, faced a setback in his career following losses to Andy Ruiz and Oleksandr Usyk but has bounced back with four consecutive victories, the last two taking place in Riyadh.
